Claire: Oh, how cute. You tried to scare me for Halloween.
Claire:喔,太可愛了,你想在萬聖節嚇我。

Phil: How in the world did that not frighten you? Some ofthis is my actual blood! I knocked myself putting it on.
Phil:這樣你也沒被嚇到?這有些可是真的血!我傷害自己收集來的。

Claire: Sweetie, you don't know the first thing aboutscaring people. It's all about plausibility. And you wereawfully casual for a guy that just got an axe in the chest.You know, if you really wanted to scare me, you shouldhave waited until I opened the closet and found youhanging by a necktie.
Claire:寶貝,你完全不懂怎麼嚇人.一定要夠逼真,以一個胸口被斧頭砍了的人而言,你看起來太不在乎了.如果你真的想嚇我,應該要在衣櫃裡用領帶吊著自己,然後等我打開衣櫃 。

Phil: Excuse me! I killed myself?!
Phil:什麼!我自殺?!

Claire: Yeah, totally plausible. I mean, you've been sohappy all these years, the other shoe is bound to drop,right?
Claire:對,這才夠逼真.畢竟你已經過了好幾年的好日子了,不是不可能發生的,對吧?

Cam: The doctor says absolutely no sun while I'm onthese antibiotics.
Cam:醫生說在吃抗生素的其間絕對不要照到太陽。

Mitchell: What would happen? Because if it's anythingshort of death, I think you should risk it.
Mitchell:是能怎樣?反正又不會害死你,我覺得你可以試試看。

Jay: Let me tell you about a little innovation calledNetflix. You'll never miss another movie again.
Jay:讓我告訴你一個叫Netflix的新玩意.你不會再錯過任何一部電影。

Marty: Really?
Marty:真的?

Jay: Hand to God. You pick a film on your computer.Three days later, there's a disc in your mailbox. You gottastay up with technology, Marty!
Jay:我發誓.你在電腦上選一部電影,三天之後,它就出現在你的信箱裡. Marty,跟上時代好嗎!

Marty: Wow. Thanks... [to his wife] Can you believe hedoesn't know about streaming? If I ever get that out oftouch? Kill me.
Marty:哇,謝啦…. [和他太太說]你能相信他竟然不知道串流服務嗎?假如我有一天變成這樣,拜託不要手下留情。

Cam [giving Lily dating advice]: Definitely complimenthis outfit, laugh at his jokes...
Cam [在給Lily約會建議]:務必要稱讚他的穿著,他說的笑話要表現出很好笑…。

Lily: What if they aren't funny?
Lily:但如果他說得笑話不好笑呢?

Cam: Oh honey, the cute ones rarely are. God doesn't givewith both hands.
Cam:喔寶貝,可愛的男生不會也有趣的,老天是公平的。

對話五
Manny: You have to face it Jay, one day I’m gonna bemoving out of this house.
Manny:面對吧Jay,有一天我會搬出這個家。

Jay: Can I get that in writing? Cause I just can’t shake thisimage of a 30 year old you, eating my food and cuddlingwith my wife.

Gloria: Boys should never stop cuddling their mothers.

【文法】

1.Wait for the other shoe to drop
 

字面上的意思是”等另一隻鞋子掉下來”,引申的意思是提心吊膽等待最後的結果(通常是不好的結果) 。
 

例句：
Our company just fired 10 employees, and now therest of us are waiting for the other shoe to drop.
我們公司已經裁員了10個人, 剩下的人都在提心吊膽等最後的結果。

We were playing and accidently broke the TV, sonow we’re just waiting for the other shoe to drop.
我們在玩的時候不小心打破電視, 現在正在提心吊膽等待著。

2.Short of sth
 

要注意如果是Nothing short of用於強調狀況,“簡直就是, 根本就是”。
 

例句：
I am always short of breath when climbing stairs.
我爬樓梯時總是喘不過氣  。

這樣的轉變根本就是奇蹟 。
